Jake and I have had an unwelcome house guest these past few days. The fact that I’m not sleeping well as it is, has been punctuated at night by the scratchings and musings of a little mouse. We set several traps, yet this smart little mouse somehow managed to elude them all (even setting two of them off in the process without getting caught!). Until last night that is….
When Jake and I arrived home last night and turned on the light, I spotted a little something on the living room carpet. There was the mouse, frozen and wide-eyed. When Jake saw it, he said, “don’t let it out of your sight! We are ending this NOW!”, and as I had a stare-down with the mouse, Jake ran and grabbed a BUTTERFLY NET* I had in the box of my photo props. He proceeded to chase this mouse around the living room (that thing was fast!) while I stood guard in front of the only exit. Finally the mouse panicked and started running towards me. I screamed and jake yelled, “stand your ground!” so I started stomping my feet and that poor mouse was so confused/scared it just froze. Then WHOOSH! and Jake had that thing caught in the net! Jake took the thing outside all the while telling him how lucky he is that he’s still alive, and proceeded to cross the street and catapult the mouse over the fence into the lot of this energy station. Bye bye mouse. We won.
Afterwards we talked about how cool it would have been if we would have taken pictures or videotaped the event, but since we did neither, this will have to suffice:

*Butterfly net has since been completely sanitized
