Jana + Collin 4.23.2011 | Las Vegas Wedding Photographer

Jake and I had the pleasure of traveling to Las Vegas for Jana and Collin’s wedding. They were married in the LDS Las Vegas Temple and held their reception at Gilcrease Orchards. Who knew Vegas had orchards?! I’ve absolutely loved working with Jana and Collin for their engagements and bridals/groomals, so I was excited going into their wedding. Jana’s sister Linsey is a good friend of mine and she is also a FABULOUS and talented designer. She designed my logo and all my materials. She also designed the invites and thank you cards for Jana and Collin’s wedding. Look closely and read what it says. If you want Linsey’s info, let me know!

Poor Jana and Collin both woke up feeling under the weather on their wedding day. You wouldn’t know it though! They were serious troopers.

Doesn’t this shot look like something animated by Pixar? Maybe from the movie UP?

To sign in guests could either type Jana and Collin a message on Jana’s grandfather’s typewriter…

…or they could leave a fingerprint and signature on the fingerprint tree. Remember when I blogged about this a while back? So happy to see someone do it! And to make it even better, Jana designed the tree herself using newsprint. Here’s the tree before and after the reception.

For favors they gave jars of honey and jam (homemade by Jana’s mom!!). Tags designed by Linsey.

I loved, loved, loved everything about this reception. Loved the banquet styled seating, the candles, the newsprint mixed with real flowers, everything!

This is possibly the best cake I have ever eaten. Seriously. Doesn’t it look amazing? It tasted just as amazing. And guess what? It was CARROT cake. And I HATE carrot cake. So that, my friends, means it was REALLY good.

I made Jake climb on a chair and balance the camera on a shaky light stand to get this dragged-shutter shot. I love it though. He rocks at these shots.

Audrey turns 2!

Jake and I can’t believe Audrey is already 2. Where did the time go? I feel like I was just posting this photo yesterday:

Now she’s a whole year older! She loves to sing the ABC’s, count to 14, read books, eat pan-keys (pancakes), dance and twirl in her princess skirts, paint a-nails (finger and toenails), wear lip-kick (chapstick), try on shoes (she puts on and takes off at least 4 pairs a day), eat nacks (mini marshmallows) and her med-cine (fish oil gummie chews–seriously, she loves them), and play with her cousins. I recently did a parent and me swim class with her and she loved it. She wanted to go “wimming like a fishies” every day. Jake and I are constantly amused by her spunky personality, her constantly bobbing head, and how she ends every sentence with “kay?” (i.e., “Want juice, kay?”, “No night-night, kay?”). We also love that she always says “bless you” when we sneeze, and “thank you” when we give her something. She loves to gives hugs and kisses, and somehow has a way of making you feel like the most amazing person on earth. WE LOVE YOU AUDREY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

This is what we call your “silly face”. You like to whip it out at random times and it always makes me laugh.

We celebrated Audrey’s birthday yesterday with Jake’s family, because it was also our nephew Bridger’s birthday. He turned 1 yesterday! It was fun to celebrate together.

P.S. Since nearing 2, I’ve definitely noticed a more “terrible two” streak coming through. Not really sure how to discipline her because guess what? She LOVES time-out! Seriously! When I threaten to put her in time-out she says “okay!” or “yes!”, gets her stool then happily sits or stands in the corner. WHAT TO DO, internet? What to do? I’m in for it. Good thing she’s not naughty very often.

Look who just turned 1! Isn’t she so cute? Her mom Whitney and I got to know eachother in college, and then I was able to photograph Whitney and Jason’s wedding. I love to see families grow!

Maylin loves witches, so her daddy whipped up this little witch cake. Isn’t it cute?

My friend Matt Butler made this awesome video of our little family, and I LOVE it! Isn’t he amazing? It’s rare that I’m in any photos with Audrey since I’m usually taking them, and even more rare for me to appear in video with her. Audrey absolutely loves watching herself and has already requested to watch this video about 50 times.

Wouldn’t you love this for your family? Why not have Matt come along on your next family, engagement, child, newborn, or high school senior portrait session and have him get all the behind the scene moments. Nitro Circus/APX Alarm

Jake is a serious Nitro Circus fan. So when my friend Lindsey offered us tickets to go to the Nitro Circus show hosted by APX Alarm AND the opportunity to meet Travis Pastrana and the crew, I jumped at the chance, knowing full well that it would earn me SERIOUS awesome wife points. Needless to say, Jake was SO excited. Nitro didn’t disappoint, and we were thoroughly entertained. Thanks again Lindsey!

They started the show by skydiving in. Let’s just say that only one of them landed where he was supposed to…

I just love these two. So nice and so great. Their wedding day was beautiful, although on the hot side (I think one of the last really hot days we’re going to see!). Because we shot later in the day, we pretty much had the temple grounds to ourselves. A rarity at the Salt Lake Temple, to be sure, and I loved it.
