Driving to the hangar to meet Caline for her senior session, I was worried. The wind was a little crazy and it was starting to rain. I kept hoping we would maybe have a break in the weather. When Caline arrived, it wasn’t letting up. Since she’s graduating really soon, we didn’t really have time to reschedule, so we decided to just go for it. I’m so glad we did! Caline was such a trooper despite the fact that it was freezing and there was a constant drizzle of rain. In fact, she made it look effortless! And the weather actually added a bit of drama, which I loved.

Caline has a passion for aviation and flying, so what better place than an airport for this shoot? This girl rocked those planes!

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I LOVE the blue eyes/brown hair combo. There’s something so beautiful and striking about it to me. So when I met Emily, I was immediately jealous. Check this girl out! Not only does she have the coveted combo, but she has porcelain skin to boot. A modern day Snow White. She’s just getting ready to graduate high school, and I think big things are in store for her.

Brian is my husband Jake’s riding buddy. As in motorbike riding. As in, “hey, let’s go ride our dirt bikes somewhere and get dirty because it’s so fun” buddy. And now Brian is graduating from high school! So Brian’s mom and I decided that senior photos were in order. hehe. Poor guy didn’t have a chance…

So, you know how I said that one of the perks of this job is being a part of people’s big life moments? Well, that doesn’t just apply to weddings. Meet Meg. She is darling. And fun. And stylish. And she’s about to graduate from high school! High School graduation is definitely a big life moment. So many new experiences and changes ahead. That’s why I love photographing seniors. I get to capture them at the ending of one era, and the beginning of another.

Meg was fantastic to work with. Not only is she photogenic, but she was up for anything I suggested. Which, as you know, I always love.

I can’t believe it’s upon us. The entire year seems to build up to this, and then it’s gone in the blink of an eye. I love this time of year because of the focus on Christ, the time with loved ones, the snow, the music, the feeling! It always ends too soon. I hope you all take the time to enjoy it! I’ll leave you with pics from my own family photoshoot.

I have had the vision for this shoot for a year now, but kept waiting for a good snow day, with a little sunshine, when I wasn’t working. Yeah, that day never came. So instead we settled for a slushy/snowy afternoon, with no sunshine, after one of my photoshoots. Thanks to my fabulous sister-in-law Kayti for taking the pics, for my brother Aaron for shielding her and the camera with an umbrella, and for my friends Katie and Mat for loaning me the sleigh!

I snapped these of Audrey and Jake while I was getting the camera settings right. Oh, I’m so lucky to have these two.

Thank you to my fabulous clients for making this such a great year! I hope all of you have the very BEST Christmas ever. I hope you are sharing it with family and friends.

Brittany | High School Senior

I met Brittany at her brother’s wedding this past year (well technically we first met when she showed up to help with Rachel’s bridals), so I was excited when Brittany called me to take her senior portraits. I absolutely adore photographing high school seniors! Brittany was a fantastic model–totally at ease in front of the camera, which made my job even easier.
